Description

Shell Water Detector is a field test for detecting the presence of water in aviation fuels.

This easy-to-use, reliable test meets aeronautical standards (IATA Guidance Manual or ATA 103). Water can contaminate fuel throughout the supply chain, impairing its quality and leading to the formation of ice which clogs fuel filters.

A change in color on the tablet indicates the concentration of free water in the fuel.

Instructions for use

  1. Open the tube and take a capsule, checking that it is yellow.
  2. Place the tablet at the end of the syringe with the plunger in the closed position.
  3.  Immerse the capsule under the surface of a fuel sample recently extracted from the tank and pull the plunger to pump 5 ml of fuel into the syringe.
  4. Remove the syringe from the fuel and examine the cap.
  5. Interpret the results: a greenish-yellow center means a water concentration of 15 ppm; a distinctly green center 30 ppm.
  6. Refer to the IATA or ATA 103 Guidance Manual to find out what to do when these limits are reached.
