MICROTEST SR - SULFATE-REDUCING BACTERIA

Test for detecting the presence of sulphate-reducing bacteria.

SKU : MTSR Categories : , Labels : , , , ,

Description

Test for detecting the presence of sulphate-reducing bacteria (BSR).

Easy to use test, which does not require any special knowledge or equipment

The growth of anaerobic sulphate-reducing bacteria leads to the formation of black iron sulphide. This blackening starts anywhere in the capillary tube and depends on the degree of contamination. Eventually some or all of the tube may become black. The result is not quantitative, but shows the approximate degree of contamination.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

After taking a sample with the capillary, insert the capillary into the agar. Allow to incubate for 5 days at 35°C.
Read the results by comparing the blackening of the culture medium with the diagram below at intervals
on a regular basis, for 5 days. Heavy contamination appears after about 48 hours. Less contamination
will reveal after 72 hours.
